Chamber admin are responsible for the day to day running of the chamber, dealing with enquiries, membership as well as organising events and meetings.
Support the Greenpower Challenge
The Greenpower challenge uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). As part of their course, the young people build on their interpersonal, employability and business skills. The young people also undertake their Level 4 SQA skills for work in Mechanics at West College Scotland.
Greenpower Education Trust is a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race their own Formula 24 electric race car. The young people that take part in our course are disengaged from school due to personal reasons, some have low self-esteem and confidence and some are from disadvantaged backgrounds which reside within the 20% most deprived areas as noted by SIMD.
Dunbartonshire Chamber is committed to supporting the development of the skills of young people in our area via our Building Bridges Programme and is delighted to raise awareness of this fantastic initiative that is being faciliated by Chamber member and Building Bridges supporter, DYW - West.
CAN YOU HELP?
There are 2 local teams from West Dunbartonshire taking part in Greenpower this year. One from Clydebank High School called "The Bankies" and another team for St Peters the Apostille High School called "We Canny Drive".
The teams are currently looking for companies to sponsor them for their upcoming races, with the most recent one being the 27th March in East Fortune as well as donations of raffle prizes. The money raised helps our young people cover their race costs, equipment needed such as race suits, helmets, gloves etc, travel, and other kart costs.
It would be fantastic to get any support from chamber members and in return your company will be advertised on the kart, any clothing if possible, and on DYW social media pages throughout their journey. DYW social media channels have over 4000 followers and the newsletter has over 600 subscribers. The Greenpower programme also receives coverage from various local newspapers and the programme itself is a national programme which has recently gained traction in the US and China.
