Balloch added to the Loves Local mix

The Shop Local campaign led by DCC designed to generate support for local traders and businesses continues its roll-out to include Balloch.

“LovesLocal” has been put together to link in with a national #ScotlandLovesLocal TV, press and social media campaign that calls for people to #ThinkLocalFirst and is supported by The Scottish Government in partnership with Scotland's Towns Partnership.

The campaign has already been successfully implemented across 3 towns in West Dunbartonshire to take in Alexandria, Dumbarton & Clydebank with the support of West Dunbartonshire Council and Business Gateway.

LovesLocal encourages communities to continue to support local shops, cafes, bars and services as well as home-based businesses and freelancers.

Activity will see the launch of a new village website, balloch.co.uk, that will offer a valuable opportunity for businesses to build their presence online and to share news and other information that might be of interest to the local communities.

Damon Scott, Project Co-ordinator and Chief Executive, Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, said:

"There is still a real need to support our local businesses to help them recover from the impact of the pandemic.

“The BallochLovesLocal website features a business directory as well as the facility for community groups, clubs and other local organisations to promote themselves, their events and news. We hope that the site will continue to raise awareness about the campaign and that it will encourage more businesses and community groups to register online and get involved.

“We have been delighted by the support we have had from the local business community and look forward to continuing to connect with more of our fantastic enterprises. We have a supply of branded materials we would encourage local shops and other customer-facing businesses to display including distancing markers, stickers and posters.

“Choosing to shop, eat and think locally helps build the prosperity of an area as well as being better for the environment, reducing our carbon footprint to build a fairer, greener society.”

Local businesses and groups can register their listing via the website balloch.co.uk or email [email protected] or call 0141 280 0335 for more information.
