MEDICAL RESEARCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Let’s start with a bit of science:  Blood and other samples such as urine, saliva, faeces, hair, skin biopsies are vital for research into diseases such as cancer, diabetes, asthma, arthritis, COPD, psoriasis etc. As well as samples from disease sufferers scientists also need access to bloods from healthy volunteers to allow them to find differences between healthy cells and diseased cells.

Tissue Solutions are now looking for volunteers to join their database of potential donors who may wish to help supply samples/tissue for this research.  We are looking for volunteers in Glasgow and the West initially, with a view to eventually having a database that covers the whole of Scotland and then the whole of the UK.  These samples would be collected ethically and shipped anonymously to labs worldwide to support their research.

So why volunteer and what would your sample be used for? Well we often collect fresh bloods, which are used to test the effect of potential new drugs or in the development of a test to determine whether the patient would be suitable for a particular drug. We have also provided faecal samples, which were used to validate a new diagnostic test for bowel cancer. Being able to take a skin biopsy from a donor with psoriasis or atopic dermatitis is the only way for scientists to study this disease in the laboratory.

Tissue Solutions is an ISO9001:2015 certified ethical provider of high quality human biomaterials for research.  We hold a Research Tissue Bank Approval, which allows the collection of human biomaterials for research purposes. Samples are collected and transported directly to researchers for analysing.

We know people donate their tissue to allow others a chance to work towards a better treatment.
