A Dunbartonshire businesswoman and Dunbartonshire Chamber Director has joined the board of Scotland’s leading business organisation.

An exciting Launch and Showcase event has been put together for businesses in Dunbartonshire for September.

Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Highland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association (HRFCA) and Amazon to develop the event that will be hosted at the Conference Hotel – part of the NHS Golden Jubilee family.

CHAMBER PRESIDENT ISSUES WAKE-UP CALL TO GOVERNMENTS AS BUSINESS INVESTMENT FLATLINES

• LABOUR COSTS: Labour costs are now the biggest cost pressure and driver of price rises, cited by three-quarters of all firms.

• INVESTMENT: Growth is positive but significantly subdued, with most firms reporting no change to investment levels.

• HOUSEBUILDING: Due to pressures in the housing market, construction firms reported the largest contraction in housebuilding contracts since Q2 2020.

• INTEREST RATES: Interest rates are the second largest concern behind inflation, impacting 40% of all firms.

Loch Lomond Steamship Company and Wild Highlands Coffee are hosting a special In Steam Pirate themed weekend next month and urge everyone to get involved.

The family fun packed weekend will commence between 11am and 4pm on both Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of August at PS Maid of the Loch slipway and pier, Balloch.

Gavin’s Mill is delighted to announce that it has won the “Hidden Gem” category of the inaugural Scotsman Scran Awards. The winning finalists were announced on 19 June at an awards ceremony held in the striking Platform venue underneath Central Station Bridge in Glasgow – itself a bit of a Hidden Gem!

The Small Business Transitional Relief caps bill increases if the 2023 revaluation meant that you::- a) Are no longer eligible for the Small Business Bonus Scheme. b) Saw a reduction in your eligibility for the Small Business Bonus Scheme. c) Are no longer eligible for Rural Rate Relief.

The Scottish Government held its first New Deal for Business Group meeting on 17th May, 2023. It was co-chaired by Neil Gray, Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing Economy, Fair Work and Energy and Dr Poonam Malik.

The establishment of the group was announced by the First Minister as a mechanism to seek to develop a new model of working between the Scottish business community and Scottish Government. This was in response to widespread criticism voiced by the Chamber and other business organisations on the failure of Government to adequately respond to several policies and regulations which have been introduced despite clearly having a damaging impact on business and chamber members.
