Chamber CEO meets Chivas CEO

Damon Scott, Chief Executive, Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, recently attended a lunch meeting with Pernod-Ricard CEO, Laurent Lacassagne and his team at the Chivas site at Kilmalid in Dumbarton.

Mr Lacassagne outlined the intention to move forward with the proposal to invest £40 million in an integrated and state-of-the-art plant on the Kilmalid site.

This important project will be delivered by the end of 2019 - it will be a major driver of the entire Chivas Brothers business and will lay the foundation for future success.

The investment is a sign of Chivas’ confidence in the future of Scotch whisky and in the business. It also confirms the company’s commitment to operating in Scotland and to building a strong future in Dumbarton where they have an 80-year history.

Damon Scott said: “The chamber welcomes the plans of Chivas to expand their operational and production base in Dumbarton. Chivas are an important and long-standing company and employer in Dunbartonshire and an increase in investment and jobs at Kilmalid is a fantastic statement of intent of Chivas’s long term commitment to the area. The creation of another world class production facility continues to set Dunbartonshire out as an attractive business location following the £22 million development of the Aggreko plant nearby. This £40m investment will be a huge boost for the local economy creating and securing jobs well into the future.”
